Indie Bitch

A person, generally in their late teens or early twenties, who believes their music is far superior to yours, not due to musical quality, but simply due to the fact that their music is obscure and no one else cares about it. Usually, their music is shitty, and they will force you to listen to it. If you tell them their music is shitty, they will get really angry at you, feign a look of indignation, and just call you an idiot. They also like coffee, simply because they think it makes them sophisticated.

(Normal person is in car with Indie Bitch)

Normal Person: Hey, can we turn off this cd and switch it to the radio? I'm not really into the Himalayan monk chant combined with a two man band that plays didgeridoos, harpsichords, and the honky tonk.

Indie Bitch: Eww, of course not! That music is so terrible. It's all just corporate garbage and it all sounds the same. Try to have some creativity, dumb ass! (Drinks caramel macchiato)

Indie 103

Was the best radio station in the Los Angeles area. Was recently pulled off the air January 19, 2009 and was replaced with some regional Latin music. They still continue broadcasting on the internet, though some of the shows have changed.

Charlie: I can't stand not having indie 103.1 in my car.. it's just not the same.
Jack: Why don't you listen to KIIS FM or KROQ?
Charlie: Get off the car. Now.

indie rock

Alternative Rock music that didn't cross over into the mainstream(by choice or not) after the "alternative revolution" of the 90's. Typically, the music is relased on small "indie" labels. Indie Rock bands do music that doesn't necessarily appeal to wide mainstream audiences. There are a variety of reasons for this but some of the more common examples are the sound being to raw and abrasive(i.e to much distortion/feedback), the lyrics being to cryptic and abstract or the production and musicianship being to amateurish. In more recent years however some indie bands such as Modest Mouse, The Shins and The White Stripes have found some mainstream success. These bands however are still considered indie because they still have a decidedly non-mainstream sound.

90's indie rock-Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, Superchunk, Archers of Loaf, Neutral Milk Hotel, Fugazi, Modest Mouse, Radiohead(controversially)

2000's indie rock-The White Stripes, The Shins, The Arcade Fire, Death Cab for Cutie, The Strokes, Artic Monkeys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs

A phrase used to describe a pretentious youth, who genuinely believes that nobody can appreciate indie music as much as he/she can and will throw an eppy if told otherwise. Inspired by the popular Little Britain sketch, where the gay character Dafydd insists that he is "the only gay in the village."

is another soicial class like chav, goth, emo ect..
people who are indie are not trying to follow along with any fasions or trends, they where whatever they like, they dont take any shit from anyone, unlike most goths, emos and chavs which are all trying to be somthing and have a false personality covered in crap, indie people just do what they want when they want, no this dose not include people trying to make a political statement by wearing a pink shirt to school. Indie people are often cool too, and would not be embarresed like most people today by there parents and own personal intrests.

CoolKid1:My parents wouldent mind if any one drank a few bottles of booze and passed out at my house, they dont give a shit to what i do.

CoolKid3: Yeah my Parents let me have parys with loads of beer too whenever i want them, and they dont care what happens.
