Present day Iran now contains many ethnic groups: Kurds, Lurs, Lakis, Arabs, Armenians, and Persians. Most Iranians are mixed because years of conquest, imperialism, and being conquered themselves. They will however often most of the time identify with Persian -- as Persian is infact the dominant culture and language (Farsi/Parsi) within the country of Iran and also heavily influenced the Islamic Caliphates and Ottoman Empire that followed them.
