This name derives from the Ancient Greek name “Aléxandros (Αλέξανδρος)”, composed of two elements: “aléxō (ἀλέξω)” (keep off, turn aside, guard, protect, defend, help) plus “anḗr (ἀνήρ) andrós (ἀνδρός)” (man “adult male”, husband).
