Thanks for the Invite

A common phrase spoken when you did not get an invite to an event. You say it for no real reason at all just to get a reaction from people or to let them know that you are in disappointment that you did not get invited. Even if it is something of no interest to you, you say it anyways!

"Hey guys, we sure had fun last night didn't we?" A boy in the room raises his head and says: "Thanks for the invite"

Invite can be interchanged with Intro, when you did not get introduced to someone.

Indie Kid

Indie kids are just kids (normally teens) that love art and music. There is no real dress code. Some like to dress well and others dont give a fuck. We like the music we like because indie music actually has feeling. We are not all that shy, we are all DIFFERENT, thats what indie is about, you are different. And not in a nobody-understands-me sort of way. We just like different things, Non-mainstream more than anything. Not because we WANT to stand out because believe me, of that I´m sure, real "indie kids" dont TRY to stand out, we just don´t go with the flow (and not all of us stand out). We are not all bursting with happiness, we are not mad at emos, we are not dirty hippies, we are who we are and we try to accept others, mainstream or not because we want acceptance ourselves.

There is no physical style, we just see differently and LOVE a type of music that maybe not everybody knows about or likes. We are just teens struggling through the same things every other teen struggles with, trying to feel free from any tendency, trying to have fun in the meanwhile and enjoy the beauty in this measy world.

And by the way, we do like some mainstream music.

indie kid: You can´t look indie. You simply are indie or not.

indie

musically:

short for independant
musicians with an individual sound
usually soft, beautiful, and meaningful (to the artist and fans at least) or upbeat and danceable.

very devoted fan base, at least in the past.
doesnt care if you make fun of it, because its just that cool.

isnt really indie anymore since its been mainstreamed by movies such as garden state.
however indie will fade from the scene in a short while and those left will once again be respectable.

indie hipster

a person who considers themselves to be "indie" or independent, because of the way they dress, the music they listen to, etc., etc. When all the while they are just following already made trends, therefore copying off of one another. They are all alike seeing as they follow the same trends. They think they are all so unique and different, yet they are all basically the same.

indie kid

Indie kids are pretentious and sometimes a bit cocky. But thats okay. They listen to indie bands, the more obscure the better. They're often seen sporting blazers, even when outside of school. They are pretty much the opposite of emo in a sense that they stick to a personal style. A lot of indie girls have fringes and wear obnoxiously bright lipstick. Most of them, despite their distance from the mainstream, carry around iPods. While other people are talking about how "sick the show was", they will be heard talking about how "annoying the singer sounded". A lot of them also seem to have a fascination with the United Kingdom and it's culture.
