Satellite Friend

The friend that is never really part of the "fam" group of friends. They're never on the inside of any circles and only make their revolutions around the outside of close cliques, even though they're friends with all of them.
"Why weren't you there on Saturday, everyone else was"
"Uh because everyone forgot about me and didn't miss me because I'm just a Satellite Friend"

Skater Girl

A skater girl is one of the following two:

A female who skateboards for the genuine love and fascination of it

OR

In an attempt to meet guys who skateboard.

Some females don't mind being called "skater girl" while others do. However, the reality of the term is that it separates females subtly from what they are. Skaters. Unlike males who skateboard, females are called "skater girls" rather than just skaters. The reason for this would be the male domination of the skateboarding. That still does not take away from the fact that skateboarding has and always will be something females can excel in just as much or more than males do. When looking back or taking a current look, we all need to remember women have existed within the skateboarding scene since it's beginning. So when looking at the archetypes of the sport, don't just consider Jay Adams, Tony Alva, or Duane Peters, think Peggy Oki, Lauren Thornhill, Kim Cesepedes, or Stephanie Person. They all had a place in the scene, and they all paved a way for the females to come. Thank them, respect them, be aware of them, and most of all shred with them.
A genuine female skater: I finally learned how to do crooked grind!

Skater Girl: Erick Koston is so fucking hot. I love those shoes.

A skater is a human being who enjoys riding a skateboard because it is fun. a lot of skaters could be classified as 'punks' but this is just a stereotype. true, some skaters so wear tight jeans and a pair of emericas, but a lot of them just dress 'normally'.

there are vert skaters and street skaters. vert skaters skate in halfpipes. street skaters skate stairs and ledges and such. street is currently more popular than vert, mainly because it is easier to do. not to say that it requires less skill; I mean that street requires no ramp, therefore it can be done in more places that vert.

skateboarders are often said to be druggies, but this is simply not true... True skateboarders have no use for drugs. It's all about landing those tricks! landing a trick is the ultimate high.

I could say a lot more but i don't have a lot of time to write so I'll end it hear.

skateboarding is not a fad, it's a way of life.
while i may not skateboard every day, i do it for the right reasons... not to get girls or to cash in on the rise in popularity that skateboarding has suddenly taken.

skateboarding

Is a misunderstood artform/sport that is often critisized by the mainstream who do not grasp the concept. This is mainly due to the fact that there are no uniforms, rules, times etc. to clearly define the activity. Most people do not even understand how skaters 'ollie' their decks, and true to human nature they criticise what they cannot comprehend.

It is without a doubt far more skillful, creative and extreme than any team sport i can think of - and can only be compared to a select few of other sports/artforms such as surfing, snowboarding, even BMX.

Anyone can perform the most basic requirement of football - ie. kicking a stupid ball (or catching one).

Yet only a small minority of people will ever manage to perform the most basic requirement of skateboarding. ie. the 'ollie'. (Tip: its all about physics)

Due to the sports misconception, the real riders are mostly those who feel ill-at-ease with our conservative society, and feel the need to express themselves accordingly. This can admittedly result in the use of public property that is different to its intended purpose..

However, the greedy corporate fat cats have realised that there is potential cash in bottling this so-called teen-angst. As a result we have a whole pop-culture full of posers, companies, music groups and even shredders whose prime interest is gaining publicity, money and mainstream approval.

The soul riders are those individuals you will see milling around street corners, in dark crevices of the cityscape, wary of beefed-up security, all battle-scarred and torn, yet somewhat proud of our victimised counter-culture..

...Skateboarding is NOT: Tony Hawk games; World Industry clothing; Avril Laviegne; drug-using space-cadets.

...Skateboarding is: the underground; the artform; the family; the expression; the knocks and falls; the persistence; the reward...
I was skateboarding down the street before a cop pulled over and said "you cant ride on the street". So i skated down the path and i copped scowling stares from every direction - so i went down to the industrial estate and was confronted by a steroid wank of a security guard.

so i said 'fuck it' i'l just skate in your faces - just try and catch me..
