Gene is the type of person who can seem like some sort of dumbass on the surface, but on the inside he believes everyone secretly hates him, so he can't talk to people without thinking he's fucked up somehow. A Gene also doesn't appreciate themselves very much, but hates it when they get compliments because they don't think highly of themselves.

Jesus Christ, i thought they were a Karen, but they're actually a Gene.
