Term used in the early 20th century to refer to homeless people traveling back and forth on Subway trains for the day. Traveling back and forth with no purpose but to take up time. Used extensively in the novel V. by Thomas Pynchon.

I had no where to go, so I spent the day yo-yoing.

Sometimes referred to as the “Yoinky Sploink” is what folks from the 205 call an unknown substance that has someone all over the place. It can also be used when someone don’t know the name of a drug.

Derrick: Aye man what’s with dude over there? He moving wild right now.
Chris: Oh don’t mind him man he just if that Yoinky.
Derrick: That who?
Chris: You know? That Yoinky Sploink?
Derrick: Ohhhh I gotchu now.
