Shipping

A verb used to describe the action of wishing for two people to enter a relationship (whether romantic or occasionally platonic) in books, movies, tv shows or real life. Shipping can often happen involuntarily, and it is the majority of what happens on the website, Tumblr. There are some very popular ships, some unpopular, as well as often lots of controversy between ships from the same fandom.

"Do you ship Klaroline, or Steroline?"

"Omigod. I am definitely shipping Olicity."

A person who singlehandedly does both the shipping and the handling.

- When a mail man send out a letter, he is the shipper and the handler, so he can be considered the shippandler.

- When giving out valentines, the giver is the shipper and the handler, so he/she can be called the shippandler.

- "Dude, Megan and I had so much fun at my place last night. She's the best shippandler I've met."

Destiel Shipper

A person who ships the romantic relationship between Dean Winchester and Castiel on Supernatural (TV Show). The relationship is entirely valid, as are all other ships. Destiel shippers are not any less of fans because they ship Destiel. Likewise, fans who do not ship Destiel are not "homophobic", their view is entirely as valid. Destiel shippers often have the uncanny ability to reference subtext and gifs proving the canonical existence of destiel effortlessly.

Person 1: are you a destiel shipper?
Person 2: *laughs nervously* *trips* *hundreds of pictures and gifs showing destiel subtext spill out of jacket*
Person 2: maybe just a little...

Verbal arguments between people who have different opinions about romantic relationships between characters of a show, book, etc.

A noticeable one would be the war between a

Robin/Raven shipper and a Robin/Starfire Shipper.

Don't say anything negative about "Stranded" online. You'll start a shipping war.

Safe Shipping Zone

A safe shipping zone is a space (typically a blog or website) where it is safe to "ship" any fictional pairings. The term is intended for the HP fandom and their pairings but can extend to any and all fandoms. Safe shipping zone means that you will not be judged for whatever characters you decide to "ship" (or want to be together) regardless of who they are and their sex/age/gender. It promotes a non-bullying atmosphere and encourages others to be respectful of certain pairings.

This is a safe shipping zone, you can ship whatever fictional or real life pairings you want without any judgement!
