Sutton

Sutton is an attractive middle class town in outer south London with easy access to central London. It has a Surrey post code, but has officially been part of London since 1965. The town has a high-achieving state Grammar school for boys, and a private school for girls. It is a regional shopping hub with major stores and plenty of restaurants and coffee houses.

The town has quite an arty side with a theatre and a lot of outdoor, public art. These include two sculptures, an armillary, and three building-height murals - one of Sutton's twin towns, one a heritage mural mosaic showing nearby sites of historical importance and, last but not least for fans of neo soul, one of Erykah Badu, no less.

Sutton is a cool town.

An ethnic or racist slur directed at or towards an undefined race or ethnicity. Insult to all, compliment to none. A potent fighting word, if you can bring yourself to be offended by it. Most common among racist taxi drivers in Portland, which isn't a home to racists.

Having the qualities of a scuttlehead.

Sutton

A genuinely nice town near the border between London and Surrey. It has pretty much all the ingredients - beautiful architecture including lovely old churches; a major high street with most of the top names (eg Waterstones Books); a really good selection of restaurants (including the fab Brasserie Vacherin); a cinema and excellent theatre (the Secombe), and plenty of green space to relax in.

There's not a lot wrong with Sutton
