It is one of the major Somali clans and has produced many prominent historical Somali figures. They are natives to Mogadishu and are the descendants of the founder of Mogadishu, Darandoole. They are known to be a generous clan and invited many other groups to live with them like the Murusade sub-clan and the Reer Xamar confederation.
