Closing Time

A part at the end of every work day, it's an excuse to play Semisonic's hit named 'Closing Time' which became popular because of the movie 'Friends With Benefits'. Normally the song is played in a dramatic style such as a meaningful exit. An example is at a High-School graduation, as the song 'Closing Time' may have a deeper meaning to some as moving onto a new place and leaving the old. Either that or it's used ironically, however the song is quite catchy.

An example, an office building at 8:00PM
*Closing Time starts*
Bill: "Who the hell is playing that?"
Kyle: "It's Steve, he plays that every damn time we close up..."
Steve: *Chanting to the tune of Closing Time* "I know who I want to take me home, take me home!"

Closing Time

Closing Time was Tom Waits' debut album, from 1973. It held twelve beautiful tracks, and lasted a great forty-five minutes. Some highlights from the album are Ol' 55, Ice Cream Man, and Grapefruit Moon. The music relies heavily on Waits' exceptional piano-playing skills, and his vocals.

walls are closing in

In contrast to what you might think about a claustrophobic reference, the "walls are closing in" actually means that someone was home for so long that they start coming up with dumb ideas. This usually happens when students are unemployed over winter break/summer or when adults are on medical disability. The absence of sunlight into the home enables Vitamin D deficiency, which in turn results in someone coming up with ideas that would have otherwise not even come to mind.

This can also happen when someone has too much time to think.

Peter: I came home for winter break and recorded an unnecessary motivational football speech. I directed, produced, and acted in my own mafia film over the course of the summer.
Mike: Stop, Stop. Chill b. The walls are closing in.
Peter: Hmmmmmm?
Mike: You're a joke.
Peter: What? I had time to write a script, scout a location, pay actors (including myself), hire my dad as a cameraman, and shoot a movie.
