Arabic for "God is great". A common expression and often used as a prayer during times of relievement or desperation in Muslim societies. It is also a common war cry of Islamic Fundamentalists where it became imfamous to Westerners and associated with terrorism. Saying it in America or Canada is considered taboo despite its meaning.

It simply means, "God is great". Allah being Arabic for God. Muslims believe in God and the Holy Qurran does not preach violence on innocents like extremists lead us all to believe.
It is a peaceful saying that extremists use in the wrong context perpetuating the myth of Islam being a violent religion.
