Often misspelled as Optical Fiber.

1. A thin, transparent and flexible fibre, made of glass or plastic; used for transmitting light.

1. Optical fibres are widely used in fibre-optic communications, which permits transmission over longer distances, and at higher bandwidths (data rates) than other forms of communication.

2. Optical fibres are also better than your standard conventional metal wires, because signals travel along them with less loss, and are also immune to electromagnetic interference.

n. A shitty outlook on life. Derived from optical, refering to sight or vision; and rectum, refering to the orifice from where shit is delivered to the outside world.

Decision makers at all levels (governmental, corporate, bosses, parents, etc.) must have Optical Rectitis since they seem to make some really bad decisions more often than not. The symptoms are everywhere - too much government, failed corporations, discredited government officials and executives, corporate bailouts, public dishonesty, abuse of power, superficial strategies, and failed initiatives.
