narsissish

Narsissish describes people who have narcissistic tendencies, who tend to make it all about themselves and are relatively defensive; they have a hard time being accountable or self-reflective. They are not diagnosed with actual narcissistic personality disorder. Andrea Miller created a tiktok today, March 1, 2024 sharing "narsissish" and first used the word publicly when she interviewed an expert on narcissism, Joe Kort, on her podcast, Open Relationships: Transforming Together.

I have a friend who has a tough seeing any one else's point of view; as she's narsissish, she has all of the answers and none of the questions.

Narsillycistic

A splintered example of the classic narcissist. A person who possesses many redeeming qualities but cannot get out of their own way. Normally their sense of humor comes originally from a place of defense, something they developed as a child to help them deal with trauma and the never-ending pain that comes with this thing called "life".

While they do share the common traits of narcissists, such as exaggerated sense of self-importance and need for admiration, they differ in the fact that they are capable of empathy. This "empathy" has been described as "second hand" or "after the fact", i.e. they may not think in the moment but are then met with extreme feelings of accountability and reflection when they realize the scorched earth policy they have enacted.

Their self-reflection and grief may manifest in art form, such as an exhausting attempt to become a "musician" well into their 30's.
