how are you-er

When someone, more an online acquaintance than a close friend, greets you on facebook chat or another messaging service with a 'hi, how are you?' and then proceeds to say nothing else (occasionally a 'what are you up to?' MAY follow).

how are you-er: hey
how are you-er: hows it going?
you: good
you: you?
how are you-er: good

how are you-er: what are you up to?

how are we

A phrase used in many different regions of the UK, however it is very common in Liverpool.

The phrase is used to ask on how one person, or a group of people is doing.

It is also often used to ask what a person is referring too. This would be followed by a question mark (?).

Dave: How are we
Steve: I’m great lad

Police: Dave we need to talk to you about a burglary from down the block
Dave: How are we?

How are you?

Not as simple a question as it seems at first glance. You usually say "I'm fine", no matter how you really feel – this is only for the closest people. Because explaining why you feel bad isn't very pleasant thing and few people won't take it seriously.

Usually when people ask how I'm doing(how are you?) , the real answer is I'm doing shitty, but I can't say I'm doing shitty, because I don't even have a good reason to be doing shitty.
