Gear, also known as equipment, is supportive/assistive equipment used in powerlifting to artificially inflate
one's numbers in the
bench, squat, and deadlift. Gear includes:
two-ply or three ply bench shirts, squat suits, belts, wrist wraps, elbow wraps, and knee wraps.
This is not meant to insult geared powerlifters. Powerlifters with gear have to train just as hard as
raw powerlifters. Powerlifting is a
test of how much YOU can
lift, not your gear. Even without equipment geared powerlifters could still put up massive weight.
