darwinism

A buzzword that creationists use to refer to the theory of evolution. They use this word to try to equate the theory of evolution with ideologies like communism and fascism.

Such a tactic is dishonest. The theory of evolution is not an ideology. Ideologies are PROSCRIPTIVE--they make value judgments and say what should and shouldn't be done. The theory of evolution, like all other scientific theories like gravity, relativity, etc., is DESCRIPTIVE--it describes and explains facts. Such theories are testable by analyzing them to see what the predictions that they make, and then seeing if those predictions match the facts.

For example, applying the theory of relativity predicts where the stars will be. We look at our hubble telescope and see that lo and behold, the stars are indeed where the theory predicts them to be!

The theory of evolution predicts that the evidence will show that humans and chimpanzees are closely related. We look at human chromosome 2, and see that it's virtually totally analagous to two chimp chromosomes, and lo and behold, human chromosome 2 has a fusion site with telomeres in the middle of the chromosome! (Imagine taking the 2 chimp chromosomes and "scotch-taping" them together--that's what human chromosome 2 looks like).

darwinism is an example of a stupid and dishonest creationist buzzword.

Survival of the fittest, academically speaking. Differential scholastic success. Academic Darwinism encompasses the undertaking of doing of whatever it takes to ensure pedagogic success.

At B.B. High School, they prefer to call it Academic Darwinism.

Collegiate Darwinism

A theory posed by a Penn State student, contending that "survival of the fittest" applies to the social life of college students.

Collegiate Darwinism: 3-5 friends go on a road trip to a college where they have no friends. Everyone must find a bed. House parties, bars & late night pizza joints are recommended places to find a bedmate. As the night progresses, friends will see that the strongest survive, no matter what it takes. Those that sleep with fat chicks or ugly guys (girls is pimps too) should be congradulated for finding a bed, not admonished for lowering any standards. Meet up at a diner the next morning to tell your stories. Compare strategies, learn from your mistakes, and go to a different school and try it again.

Drawning

Drawning - used only in Philly to mean someone acting a fool. It originally was to represent someone 'drawing attention to themselves'. It may be pronounce "Drooling" by fake ass perpetrators biting off the slang.

Example 1: Wearing bright orange two-pieced suit to church. Why!!!!!? You drawing.

Example 2: "...But you drawning though. We all trying to read and you farting all-crazy. Go in the hallway or something.
