Going to Alford

A euphemism used in a similar fashion as "Going to see a man about a dog".

'Going to Alford' is usually a polite way of explaining an intention to attend a clandestine sexual meeting with anonymous consenting individuals.

Describes the cost of the base-model Tin Lizzie, if you didn't factor in the infamous "nickle 'em to death" subsequent maintenance-bills due to the shoddy quality/durability of the flivver's parts!

Disgruntled teenager: My parents offered me my choice of a birthday gift, as long as it was "aFordable", and so I'd naively interpreted that to mean that they were gonna buy me a car --- what a disappointment it was when I learned that they had merely meant that they were setting a limit of twenty-five dollars on the gift's cost!

Can't-Afford Cop

the worst kind of cop there is. Very controlling and authoritive, the kind that will beat your ass for speeding 5 MPH over the limit or stand in the middle of a busy street at 10am in a dark blue uniform and expect not to get hit.

They were made famous in the alternate version of "April 26, 1992" by Sublime, where the lyrics show disdain towards their kind.

Officer Leroy beat me up just for rolling dice in the alley, he's such a can't-afford cop.
