The Clay Aiken Effect

In any competition, when the receiver of second place or a runner-up ends up becoming more successful than the actual winner. This is open to interpretation, of course.
Typically associated with the case of Clay Aiken on American Idol, who didn't actually win, but who has become a more commonly-heard name than winner Ruben Studdard.
Billy ended up becoming a CEO, even though he got second place in the science fair in 4th grade. The first place winner, Paul, lives in his grandma's basement. This is an example of the Clay Aiken Effect.

Chuck Norris Effect

When someone's legacy is exaggerated beyond what they actually did.
Widely known people whose legacies are affected by the Chuck Norris Effect include:

Chuck Norris. Do an online search for "Chuck Norris facts".

North Korean leadership post-Korean war. Kim Jong-il propaganda told that he averaged 2-3 hole-in-ones per round of golf played, that he invented the idea of using 3 cameras at once to film a movie to save time (in the 1960s), and that he was born on a sacred mountain. All of which are not true or impossible.

Jesus. A man who did many great deeds and brought forth new humanistic philosophies was exaggerated to have fed thousands with only a few loaves of bread, to have performed many inexplicable miracles, to have ascended to heaven while alive after being resurrected after death, etc. The stories of his life were historically recorded several decades after they actually occurred leaving time for word of mouth to allow his legend to grow.

Babe Ruth. Watch the film "The Babe". Search online for historical inaccuracies within the movie.

The 'Sucker Punch' Effect

The effect one has when they see something that looks so good and awesome, they must have it, taste it, see it, etc. The moment they do, they are disappointed eventually. Based off of the movie Sucker Punch.

The Kanye effect

It's a player's worst nightmare. After being exposed to all kind of sluts for several years, one can't no longer tell the difference between a whore and a nice girl. Individuals suffering from the Kanye effect might end up tying the knot with a woman of low morals, a.k.a a slut.
Rapper Kanye West scored numerous sluts in the past and ended up marrying a whore (Kim Kardashian). This phenomenon is known as The Kanye Effect.

The 'Casual Friday' Effect

When one person, or a small group of people, abuse or break a code, rule, or law, which in turn ruins privileges for everyone, both directly and indirectly involved. Shoplifting, unnecessary texting and phone calls while driving, and people making bombs out of their fucking shoes on airplanes cause the rest of us to suffer on a daily basis from The ‘Casual Friday’ Effect.
Example 1: From The Office episode “Casual Fridays.”

Toby: “Casual Fridays are canceled… There’s not a single appropriate outfit in this whole (office) except mine, quite honestly.”

Toby canceled Casual Fridays after Meredith wore a dress that was too small, exposing her breast (and then some) when Toby suggested ‘pulling it down a touch.’

Example 2:

Girlfriend: “What took you so long?”
Boyfriend: “Ugh. I had to buy refills for my MACH3 Turbo.”
Girlfriend: “I know, right? I usually have to wait about fifteen minutes for someone to unlock the case at Target when I need more Britney Spears’ Curious. Damn The 'Casual Friday' Effect!”
