Jason was sniffing green leaves in the school’s restroom. He there’s it away in the trash then caused a fire at the school.
Jackie was sniffing green leaves in the school bus, then the bus smelled like green leaves and eventually made the bus driver to stop.

something that has "worn out its' welcome" and is unable to 'get the hint' that you want its' stupid ass GONE!!
cut a flop, but the dung wouldn't flush; and was the company that wouldn't leave!
stepped in dog flops, (olden times?) and couldn't get rid of it or its' 'essence'; it was the company that wouldn't leave!
joe came over and was the company who wouldn't leave, until he had smoked up all my 'gage'.

To avoid/ignore/not notice the main part of a conversation, topic ect.
Originating from presumably by someone putting away shopping, and a loaf of bread falls out the bag and to the floor. But the person does not notice it/ignores it and continues to put away the shopping.

"Don't leave the bread on the floor."
"Well sorry I left the bread on the floor."
"I'm afraid you left the bread on the floor."
"Are you leaving the bread on the floor?"
