Intellectuals are those who:

- Enjoy art and literature nobody else cares about, and think they are superior to everyone else because of it
- Believe education should serve some undefined "higher purpose" than preparing people for the real world
- Claim that language is a beautiful art form rather than a means of communication
- Love to argue that capitalism is evil despite having no understanding of basic economics
- Dream of living anywhere but where they actually do live; usually a far less affluent society
- Believe that our own society is degrading or becoming a cultural wasteland, because people would rather watch TV than go see a play written in the 1600's
- Are the most fiery supporters of evolution, yet dislike people who pursue their evolutionary desires
- Convince themselves to hate parties and sports to cover up their lack of social/athletic ability
- Can't stand the idea of leaving their tiny bubble that is academia
- Believe that anyone who enjoys sports must be a mindless jock with the IQ of a gorilla
- Love to advertise how much they "think for themselves," yet somehow always agree with each other on everything

Intellectual Masturbation

Talking about important subjects rationally and objectively and making perfect sense but not taking action towards helping the situations.

Examples of Intellectual Masturbation: Saying things like "If all the rich people in the world gave X % of their money, a lot of world problems would be solved." , or "The money that goes into American Idol could save millions of lives." without doing anything about the issues.

intellectual elitist

One who claims to have background knowledge about a subject and is therefore more qualified in his/her opinions. Elitists generally believe they are morally superior to everyone else and their proclamations are to be accepted without reservation.

The term intellectual elitism has recently been attributed to globalists pushing for an agenda that recognizes environmental change without having prerequisite facts to support their claim. With the media attack against US President-elect Donald Trump, we see a continued progressive bias against informed, educated citizens.

An example of an intellectual elitist would be Barack Obama, or Nancy Pelosi, or perhaps Chuck Schumer.

The intellectual elitist told the audience the government was there to help.

An individual who has obtained a menial to moderate education, but nevertheless acts as though he possesses superior intellectual ability. This individual will frequently ignore blatant evidence to the contrary. This trait is often exhibited by Minnesotans and relates to the high esteem in which they hold their state."

Louis: "Minnesota is the best state. I am so glad I don't live in Texas"

Richard: "Have you ever been to Texas?"

Louis: "No, but I heard it's awful."

Richard: "Minnesota is colder than a witch's tit half the year, and plagued with bugs and tornadoes the other half."

Louis: "Yeah, but people in Texas are stupid."

Richard: "Didn't you graduate from Saint Cloud State after being rejected from UT Austin?"

Louis: "So?"

Richard: "You are such a Minnesota intellectual. Leave the state for once."
