Conference USA

An NCAA collegiate conference formed in 1995, located in mostly the southeastern portion of the United States.

Initially a merger between two smaller conferences which did not sponsor football at the time, C-USA added its 12th member in 1996 to even out the membership.

Though members have left in the ensuing years, most notably to the expansion of the Big East prior to the 2005 season, Conference USA responded admirably by extending invitations to schools from the mid-major WAC and MAC conferences. As of 2010, C-USA has 12 universities in its fold, is recognized nationally in athletics as well as academics, and has more football bowl tie-ins than any other mid-major conference.

Goff Corner

An article is labeled as being in Goff Corner if it is an article in a mainstream newspaper on a topic of some significance (e.g. an important political issue) where the emphasis may not suit the 'party line' of the newspaper; and thus the article is to be found on a page somewhere in the middle of the section at a position in the bottom corner of the page, surrounded by a large advertisement (usually for a car company) on one side and with an article, of marginal (or lower) importance, above.

I'm in a state of news-rage after seeing Osama bin Laden relegated to Goff Corner in today's Washington Post.

To cut corners basically means to shirk, to avoid doing something, like when you're sweeping things and you sweep it under a table or a fridge to avoid having to actually use a dustpan.

Kelly cornering is the act of drunk talking to someone at a party or bar. You continue to talk to the person and tell them your life story even when said person is trying to leave. You slowly lead/talk them into a corner that they can't get out of.

Tysons Corner Cowgirl

Those girls that shop a lot, like at Northern VA's shopping center Tysons Corner, and live in places that are very much suburbian. They often try to seem like they aren't from the city by wearing cowboy hats and/or cowboy boots, etc. In truth, however, they are usually too prissy to even touch a horse.

I saw a hundred Tysons Corner Cowgirls at the Rascal Flatts concert the other day. You should have seen them in their little boots and belts screaming "MY HAIR" when they were running to take shelter from the rain. It was even funnier when they ran out of space in the ladies' room.
