Typically used in Anime and Manga. It desribes a person that is obsessed with someone (she loves) to a level that includes threatening or even murdering everyone that could come between them, and sometimes includes locking that person up in (for example) their basement.

Dude, that girl is a total yandere! She locked me up in her basement for days and threatened my Girlfriend with death!
