ratchet

The term 'ratchet' has no less than two distinct meanings. As an adjective, it describes a person or activity that is out of hand, out of control, or generally whack in some way. As a verb, or a direct object ("do tha ratchet, yeah, do tha ratchet..."), the term serves to identify or describe the dance craze--and the movements associated herewith-- of the Ratchet.

"...The President, he ratchet,and Saddam, mane/ His ratchet @$$ ain't have to send them <expletive> planes..."
Here, we find Lil Boosie making a Machiavellian social commentary on the political climate, incorporating the term "ratchet" to describe the absurdity of the President's actions.

ratchet

A classless, tasteless female who exhibits some or several of the following characteristics:
1. Has several children with multiple different fathers.
2. Lives off government funding.
3. Excessive drug or alcohol use.
4. Typically promiscous with a general disregard for men that she may be in a relationship with.

Usually these kinds of females were raised in single parent households with absent or abusive father figures. Ratchets can be any race or nationality and are not confined to certain styles or cultural taste.

Male 1: Wow, she is so ratchety she has two kids with two babies daddys, lives with her mom while working part time at marshalls and smokes weed 3 times a day.
Male 2: damn, what a ratchet.

A girl who is very attractive yet acts very dirty, wild, and/or ratchet. Commonly associated with upper class or of Aristocratic descent, but not necessarily pertaining to.

1 (n:) "RA-CHE-TIV-ET-EE" - The ritualistic acts and or behavior displayed by individuals whom posses a descripted caliber of circumstantial judgment and morale, much less than that of an on-looking witness giving account of said activity; to be witnessed at no particular time, location, and without notification.

Person 1: "SHEESH!! I understand they messed up her order, but the ratchetivity was unnecessary.

Person 2: Right! entertaining as it was, you just don't stand on counters yelling obscenities to the employees. Have some class.
