An all right country, as far as I'm concerned. I'm Australian and no matter what I'll always love Australia 1000 times more than NZ, because we're a sunburnt country, Tourists may say NZ has far prettier scenery but you have to be Auzzie to understand the beauty of an orange desert meeting a clear deep blue sky. Also most tourists are from green countries, so seeing a beautiful untouched NZ forrest would seem far more appealing than a culture shock from grey green dry bush of Australia (which may I add is 1000 times better than an NZ forrest- lol). But thats my opinion.
I think it's cool that you guys have developed a culture of your own- like the haka (I still giggle when I see it though-lol). But don't say Australians haven't, our culure is fun loving and bbqs, some may say that anywhere in the world has that, but Australias will always be better.
I know NZ celebrities get labled as Auzzie, but to tell you the truth I think it's because the media is too stupid to know the difference so they chose the better known country.
Also, do not say Australia is rasist, I am half Phillipino and have never had a hurtful comment. Other than the occasional 'Phillipino driver' joke, but I like the way we joke about ourselves and if anyone finds that offensive- well losen up.
I don't mind NZ but Australia has the better accent!!! LOL.

Say it with me "I would like to have six fish" not "I would like to have sex fush"
Why can't New Zealanders say the letter 'i'?

Get the new zealand mug.A(nother) tropical island overrun by marsupials, tarantulas & people deluded enough to think Russel Crowe is something to be proud of.
Or was that the Australian? (I'm sure they're significantly different)
...Then again, LoTR had some hot malebeasts, and I'm quiet now.

...Or was this a sample of satirical mockery from Australia to New Zealand? It isn't nice to play the America of the southern hempisphere.
Really can't cope with the Russell Crowe thing.

Get the New Zealand mug.To Sarah, 323 or whatever, that's exactly what I've been saying all along. You hit the nail on the head. And to that other git, Billy Ben, I read an article that clearly stated that a good many Britons (I won't say poms) are moving to New Zealand *in droves* and they are moving to Australia too*in droves* so pull your head in on your comments. And it is actually many of you people who smell. I couldn't give a fuck one way or the other whether you like NZ or not, but if you are going to speak about it speak the TRUTH.
I've said my piece. There are some people in every country who think New Zealand is a pile of shit, but they really do not know what they are talking about. The same applies in reverse and it must stop.

Get the New Zealand mug.A country in the southern hemisphere.
Close to Australia, New zealand was once a colony of Australia but seperated much like America did to England.

Get the New Zealand mug.To Daryll 999 good sentiments, some Aussies are bastards but not all of them, what's more they did a few polls in Oz about New Zealand, and New Zealand came out on top in most of them. What this translates to is that many Australians like NZ so chill out. And to the person who wrote that "full of racist pricks" bit I'm sorry you feel that way but I know a lot of Kiwis and a lot of them aren't racist, although a good proportion are I guess. Attitudes are changing in NZ toward other races.
Aussie: What country came out the best in those Lowy institute polls?
2nd Aussie: New Zealand actually.
1st Aussie: Hell why can't Kiwis themselves see that?

Get the New Zealand mug.New Zealand. The Land of the Long White Cloud. Home to 4 million people. It is greener than most countries but I wouldn't call it "clean and green". It is actually a really active and fun place, we should be advertising that instead of clean and green.
The best city's are:
Auckland (if you want to be submerged in traffic and things to do).
Wellington (the capital - advisable to try to ignore the existance of the beehive, and visit the National Museum and generally enjoy the nightlife and cafe's, film festivals, etc.)
Christchurch and Dunedin: A must see for people from the UK in fact you should skip Wellington and Auckland and go there first. It has lots of historical buildings and it has a friendly European feel to it.
Queenstown: The overpriced, adventure capital of the world; a must go if you can afford it.
On Australia and New Zealand:
Relations are equal to that of Canada and the United States. Australia is economically more powerful and dominates a lot of the New Zealand market. It upsets a lot of people, as we see the "great New Zealand buy up". Also the treatment of aborigines is also a sour point, but all in all due to the ANZAC tradition from WW1 relations are good.
Should you visit?
1. NZ is costly
2. It has lots to do
3. It has a nice environment
4. It is out of the way
5. You can lose yourself
