Severus Snape

A character (professor at Hogwarts) in the Harry Potter book series by J.K. Rowling (or, for you illiterate bastards, in the Harry Potter movies).

Characterized as a mean, slimy, suspicious and unpopular professor hated by most of the school's students, especially those outside of Slytherin.

This term can also be used by the hopeless Harry Potter geek to refer to said geek's least favorite teacher.

HP Geek #1: I can't belive Snape gave us so much math homework! I was going to finish chapter 54 of my Draco/Hermione fan fic!
HP Geek #2: I know! Wait, should I be concerned that I understand what the hell you're saying when you use Harry Potter words to refer to aspects of real life?
HP Geek #1: Probably. Maybe you should go see Madam Pomfrey in the hospital wing.
HP Geek #2: Doh!

Severus Snape

is what many may call heroic, a daring, bold, brave, not-afraid-to-stand-up-to-the-Dark-Lord kind of person. Nowadays, we shorten it to badass.

Random person who just finished watching Deathly Hallows: Isn't Neville Longbottom just soo badass? He killed Nagini, Voldemort's horcrux!

Knowledgable person: Professor Severus Snape saved Harry's life several times and he played spy for Dumbledore. He's more badass than Neville Longbottom!

Avenged Sevenfold

Avenged Sevenfold (sometimes abbreviated to A7X), is a band from Huntington Beach, CA, consisting of members M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, Synyster Gates, Johnny Christ, and The Rev. Influences ranging from Pantera and Metallica to Misfits and Guns N' Roses. The band got their name from the book of Genesis in the Bible and the story of Cain and Abel, where Cain is punished to live forever in exile, alone and miserable. Anyone who relieved Cain of his misery by killing him would be "avenged sevenfold," or punished in a way that is seven times worse than Cain's punishment. Although the band has been labeled metal, metalcore and hard rock in many publications, the band themselves claim that they are a metal/hard rock band and have no musical similarities to metalcore in any way. Recently M. Shadows' vocal stylings have changed more to focus on melodic singing than on hardcore screaming, due to the band's desire to change the direction of their music. Shadows had minor throat surgery in 2004, but this did not affect their decision to change musical styles.
