Negative Nigel

Someone who dislikes a person or thing for no apparent reason, just as a stuck up British man named Nigel would be. The Negative Nigel has most likely never met or at least tried to talk to the person, or tried the thing or event that he judges so much. In general, the Negative Nigel is just negative about a lot of things, more than a Negative Nancy. In fact, Negative Nancy actually learned from Negative Nigel after they were together.

Tyler doesn't like Brandon because Tyler just doesn't like him.

Hey Tyler, let's go riding!

Ok well I hope that Brandon dude isn't there.
Why?
He's annoying.
Why is he annoying?
He just is.
But you haven't even met him...

Tyler is therefore a Negative Nigel.

Another aspect of negative headcount is when an employee is so toxic that other employees leave in order to get away from them.

Adam was so old school he was constantly making misogynistic and racist statements. That's the primary reason Eve gave for leaving. So Adam is a -1 negative headcount.

Negative Curfew

A set time at which an individual must not leave a social event before.

Used when someone is known to often go home very early at organised social events.

Usually secured by some kind of agreement involving a penalty if broken.

“Why’s Gareth still at this party, he’s usually got a lift home from Liam by 8pm hasn’t he?”

“Nah bro, he’s got a negative curfew with the group chat. Otherwise he’ll be in bed by 8:30 and he’ll regret it in the morning.”
