Workcation

When something happens at your job and you get paid for doing nothing for a few days in a row.

After we realigned the department, I have a workcation for the next three days until management figured out how to assign us work again.

Related to staycation - but instead of taking vacation time off and staying at home - one reports to work but goofs off. Related to "homeing from work" and "furlough time" - however this is goofing off for goofing off's sake, not for any ulterior motive. Workations usually involve post hangover-days, post-special project deadlines, and generally any time you're just tired of work and need a break.

Dan: "What did you have on the agenda for today Sarah?"

Sarah: "I'm going to finish these TPS reports this morning, and after lunch I think I'll take a workation and check out eBay and Overstock.com."

Dan: "You're fired."

Workstation Vacation

This is what occurs when your overbearing, micro-managing boss is not in the office for the day and you finally have a chance to relax and enjoy your day and co-workers. Usually, little or no actual work is accomplished during this time, so you are on a kind of vacation even though you are at work.

Jim, why is everyone smiling and laughing over here today? What happened?

Nothing. We're all just on a workstation vacation because Janet is out for the day at a conference.

Working full days or near full days when officially on vacation from work. Minimum of 3 consecutive days.

My week long trip to Cancun wound up being a workation. I spent every day of the trip on conference calls and completing the presentation in time for the meeting on Monday.
