schoubi

The Schueberfouer is the largest funfair in Luxembourg, running from late August to early September, where all visitors leave satisfied by its magical atmosphere.

"Schoubi" is simply short for Schueberfouer and while attending the funfair you will frequently hear attendees randomly shouting "Schoubi" with enthusiasm and excitement while enjoying the experience.

In recent years, this has led to the word Schoubi growing into more than just a shortened version of the word Schueberfouer and it has now become a concept and a way of life that can have various meanings depending on the context and the intonation, but all of which are positive...

(A)
Person 1: Hey bro, how's it going today?
Person 2: "SCHOUBI !" (translation; all is good bro and I'm feeling good about today)

(B)
Person 1: Hey babe, how do you feel about your presentation tomorrow?
Person 2: "Mmm, schoubi !" (translation; I'm sure it will go well because I have prepared well and my manager will be there to support me)
