We're gonna be in the Hudson

A decisive expression to indicate the last chance to save other lives when you are the responsible for them.
Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger made a final radio call to the air-traffic control tower from his crippled jet: "We're gonna be in the Hudson" before he glided the plane into the river rather than risking a catastrophic crash in a densely populated area, saving the lives of all 155 on board.

New Hudson

This is a town in Michigan that immediately elicits a blank expression on people's faces when you tell them that you live there until you mention that "it's right next to South Lyon." New Hudson has a proud business district consisting of chain restaurants and stores, and because of this, it is frequently shopped at while simultaneously looked down upon by South Lyonites.

New Hudsonites are like the John Snow of South Lyon – we are looked down upon because we aren’t part of the South Lyon bloodline and frequently excluded from South Lyon Facebook groups and activities because we live in Lyon Township and not South Lyon Township. New Hudsonites, however, don’t have their head chronically jammed up their own ass simply for the fact of buying a house in South Lyon. Once we overheard some Lyonites at a garage sale mention that their house had ‘two-quarter acres’ - true story. And let’s not forget about the South Lyon uproar of 2018 when everyone from South Lyon lost their shit when it was announced that instead of gridlocking their two main roads and filling up all side roads due to inadequate parking, they would host Pumpkinfest at the large, spaciously accommodating park in New Hudson. The Facebook comments went wild and they showed their true feelings for New Hudson – the town they all literally HAVE to drive through to go anywhere on the highway.
I'm from New Hudson...…….er… Lyon Township.

hudson heights

A neighborhood within a neighborhood. And happens to be one of the most charming nabes in all New York. "Hudson Heights" as a name has only been used in the gentrification sense since the 90'd. But the actual area has always been nice, coming from a lifelong resident. Located in Washington Heights, Hudson Heights comprises anything from 181 St and Ft Washington Ave to Fort Tryon Park and west of Broadway up until 190St.
Long a haven for German Jews, it was nicknamed "Frankfurt on the Hudson" during the WW II years. today, most of the original German Jews have dies or retired, and it has found insured life with new, hipsterfied residents. While not a Williamsburg by any measure, the newer residents are young, artsy and many of them are non New Yorkers.
The area is known, in particular, for its natural beauty. Fort Tryon Park is one of the most tranquil anywhere. The playground i grew up in, Bennett Park, is at the highest natural point on Manhattan island. Bennett Park is located at 184 St between Ft Washington and Pinehurst Avenues. When it comes to living, it is a quality place to live, all while still being a part of Manhattan island.
Hudson Heights is a real estate term to differentiate it from the rest of Washington Heights.
