Exemption Mentality

A phenomenon where a person dissociates themselves from bad events that happen in their society, in the hopes that they are going to be unaffected by that event. This typically has a religious undertone.
Sarah: Did you hear what happened to Grace? She got robbed last night
Helen: Yeah, I did. Grace and that exemption mentality of hers...how could she leave her car unlocked when she knows there's a robbing spree?
