Named after a certain Curran it is the act of drinking to complete oblivion and doing things which a normal, sober human being would recognise as detremtental to his future standing in the community.

To Nick Carraway (verb) is to attend a party thrown by someone you know, and then proceed to make polite conversation, observe the rest of the people at the party dancing and having fun, and to neither get drunk nor become involved in any romantic encounter.
