octanecore

Term used to describe easily digestible, radio-friendly metalcore music. It isn't an actual sub-genre, but is named after the channel Octane on SiriusXM. It is similar to the term "butt rock", but for the metalcore sub-genre.

Friend 1: "Damn, did you hear the new album they put out?"
Friend 2: "Yeah, they really stripped out a lot of stuff and seem much softer and more.. I don't know? Trendy? Like something dumbed down that you'd hear on the radio, but still metalcore."
Friend 1: "Kind of what I was thinking. The birth of another octanecore band?"
Friend 2: "Sounds like it bro. Weak."

Octane

A Transformer from the Generation 1 era of the franchise. He is a Decepticon triple changer, usually referred to as Tankor in the later years of the Transformers franchise.

He is the Decepticon fueler, transforming into a tanker truck and a jumbo jet. In the Transformers comics, and as described in his toy bio, Octane is a rather mean and dishonest character, very hesitantly offering up any fuel he's stolen from gas stations or other tankers to his starving Decepticon peers and sending anyone he wishes crashing and burning in any direction.
In the Transformers cartoon, however, he is portrayed as a more likable, funny, and even friendly character. Fangirls know him for his enjoyable personality and his good looks. He undoubtedly remains a selfish character at times, though.

Human 1: Did you just see that plane turn into a robot?
Human 2: Yes! It's Octane! We better get out of here NOW!
