Mehrnoosh

Mehrnoosh, also spelled Mehrnoush, is an ancient Persian name meaning immortal beauty and according to some texts, eternal sun. Given its ancient roots, while the name is predominantly used in Iran, particularly among Zoroastrian minorities, Parsis around the world also use the name. It is a genderless name although it is more popular as a female name. The nickname for Mehrnosh is Nooshi or Noushi.

It is not uncommon to hear those unfamiliar with Persian names mispronounce the Mehrnoosh by treating the h letter between M and r as a silent letter.
