McGyver

To invent an item that doesn't exist or you don't own. When a situation / problem needs to be fixed / resolved and you do not know or have the solution.

My in. sieve/strainer would let the grains fall through, so I "McGyvered" my own by using a tall margarine tub and with a craft awl type tool I made tons of holes in the bottom and all around the sides. Now when I drain/rinse my grains... they don't fall through.
