when there's no handle or handrail to grab on a bus/train/tram, etc., so you're kinda riding it to prevent your falling onto fellow passengers

Man, I got stuck in the middle of the bus left without a handrail to grab so I had to do some busboarding, otherwise I would have ended up on one of them sweaty people

Often used in bottle form to hone coordination skills by throwing empties from a moving vehicle at road signs. Commonly "shotgunned" in Montana by shoving ones thumb straight through the can.
