An animal rights activist who is an abolitionists at heart and believes animals should not be used for entertainment, clothing or food. An abowelfarist is a realist though, in the knowledge that other humans for the foreseeable future will use animals for entertainment, clothing or food . Although an abolitionist, an abowelfarist is also concerned and will advocate and support any change which involves the immediate improvement of quality of life and welfare of animals currently suffering within this system.

The abowelfarist was staunch in his belief that eating pigs was inherently wrong, but he knew the pig itself caged presently in the gestation crate would give anything just to be able to walk free, or even turn around, before it was slaughtered}.
