Clarix (Steve's father) tried to let his family escape, but Alex was stuck in the hotel, so the father needs to get pass the gang. He quickly rushed into the burning building as Steve is crying with his mother. After that, they left the scene, believing that Brian died in the burning hotel. Right away, the hotel massively blew up. The explosion was SO enormous that it sent firetrucks and police cars 600ft into the air causing traffic jams.
