Common use: Covered with a thin layer of gold, a precious metal often used in jewelry.

Slang: Genuine and true, but not in a good way. The mock formality alludes to a professional judgment.

(noun) Automobile license tag which contains special meaning for the driver or owner of the vehicle. Must be officially registered with the state or local authority in order to place on the vehicle.

"It's my first car, so I put '1ST CAR' on my personalized plate."

whiskey plates

(Noun): license plates given out by the state of Minnesota when you have multiple DUI's. They start with a "w" and suck in the most awful of ways, as it causes police to stop you more frequently to see if you are boozed up.

Chris: woaaaaah, looks like you got another DUI!
Kim: yeah, they are making me have whiskey plates now.
Chris: sounds like it's time to go pro and get drunk at home!
