Big Government

People may define the term in many different ways, but how it's actually used by everybody used boils down to one thing --

"Big government" is "government that does things I don't approve of".

And the opposite is of course "small government" -- "government that doesn't do things I don't approve of".

The Republicans say that the Democrats are the party of "big government", but the Republicans want to limit what we can do in the bedroom, they want a huge military, they're worried about which bathrooms we use ... who's the party of "big government" again?

The Democrats say that the Republicans are the party of "big government", but the Democrats want socialized healthcare, to keep God out of our schools, to open our borders, to have massive welfare programs ... who's the party of "big government" again?

Student Government

a body of students in high school designed to carry to the whims of the student body; in reality, a popularity contest it which the student body , out of popularity , elects idiots who do nothing but use SG as a show of popularity.

Joan: John is a high-class dumbass who cannot tell a plus from negative. he didn't even know about student government till last week. John gave a freakin' essay on how to make more money for school, and keep and bring back old programs, like SPORTS, for example.

Government School

A term for public schools used by right-wing conspiracy nuts who believe (erroneously) that the quality is generally lower than private schools or homeschooling, or that all that happens there is liberal indoctrination. The person using the term almost never has any actual experience with or knowledge about public schools or education in general, and the use of the term is a reliable indicator that the user is a member of the tinfoil hat crowd whose opinion on any subject should be taken with a dump truck full of salt. Sometimes pronounced "guv'mint school."

All they teach you at that there guv'mint school ("Government School") is that the moon landing weren't faked, that global warming hokum, and that there evolooshun. I keep mah kids home and homeschool 'em so they knows that the Earth is on'y 6,000 years old, and Jeebus rode dinosaurs.
