Taylor at Ten

N: An event in which a group of friends gather before a party or social gathering and pregame by drinking alcohol and/or preparing mixed drinks. The event starts roughly around 10:00 p.m., and usually takes a half hour to an hour, depending on the event being pregamed. The drink of choice at most Taylor at Ten events is Bacardi Razz. Taylor at Ten can occur any night of the week, and had been noted to be the cause of several blackouts.

Wick House at the University of Chicago has their Finals Week dance parties at 10:45. Thus, at 10:40, they prepare for the dance of their life.

Thus, to say Ten-Forty means "5 minutes 'til Dance Party"
