Derived from the English Gnarly meaning "Quite dandy" and the English suffixes dog shred meaning “to finely dice an animal that is larger than a cat yet smaller than a horse." *Note* The word's emphasis is largely expanded if surrounded by "cash-money" signs as shown in the example bellow. Do not become bamboozled, "Nardogshred" is not a widely accepted currency! Although acceptations are made if Rad Percy is taking up residence in your neck of the woods.

Putting somebody in charge of a job, when they have a conflict of interest. Often used to refer to industry "self-regulation" or to putting an industry insider on the board that regulates that industry, e.g., appointing an executive of Comcast as chairman of the FCC.

Can also refer to a similar problem in private industry, e.g., putting the manager of a failed project in charge of the investigation into why the project failed.

Mike Taylor has been appointed to head the Food Safety Working Group at the FDA. The President has set the fox to guard the henhouse.

A woman's chosen ally, usually a man, who goes out of his or her way to protect her from harm and comfort her in times of need. The guardian status is similar to that of a significant other, only without romantic action.

Guard Dogs

1: A girl's friends, who almost always make it uncomfortable to be around the girl you want to talk to. All girls have them, and they are a problem for most guys.

2: Dogs, usually Rottweilers or German Shepherds, used to guard prisons and other high security buildings.

"Hey, Terry, you should go talk to Maria"

"No way JT, she's got guard dogs like hell!"

"I'm almost out of jail! OH SH*T! I forgot about the guard dogs!"

Praetorian Guard

The Praetorian guards were a force of bodyguards used by Roman emporers early on in the Roman Empire. Praetorians were not very good at they're job as they managed to kill off more emporers themselfs than they managed to protect, until one day an emporer, Constantine I, got the brilliant idea of disbanding the guard before they assassinated him too.
