It has been the victim of stupid labor unions like the UAW that always threaten to strike if they don't get higher pay (even though the average starting salary for a worker just out of high school with no skills is about $25 an hour), healthcare benefits (which they DO get), retirement benefits (which they also get) and 401K. The union has destroyed this once great corporation. GM has been responsible for many job losses in the auto industry, not just in Michigan, but all across the U.S.A. Don't blame the company. Blame the UAW Union. They demand unfair promises from the company that cannot be kept, therefore forcing the company and the auto industry to outsource jobs to Mexico. GM is not so great anymore, thanks to the antiquated and worthless UAW.
General Motors is the largest employer in Michigan, the 2nd largest auto manufacturer and 3rd largest corporation in the world.

Get the Generaled mug.A Mexican general of the early 19th century who stole from the rich to give to the poor. He was hated by rich Mexicans and most Americans, but was considered a role model by middle class and lower class Mexicans. He worked with another general named Emiliano Zapata who was equally praised. He once had some problems with the U.S. government and went into a town in Texas where he killed 7 Americans to prove his point. He was never found by the American Government. He is like a Mexican version of Robin Hood. Since then any Mexicans named Francisco(such as myself) were nicknamed "Pancho" to commemorate him.
