Inclined to steal or slightly prone to petty theft, especially in a habitual or opportunistic way, without necessarily having the medical condition of kleptomania.

Resembling or characteristic of a thief; thievish.

Etymology:
Formed in English by analogy with kleptomania and kleptomanic (rare), combining klepto- (Greek kleptein, “to steal”) + -manic (suggesting an obsessive tendency).

Usage notes:

Distinct from kleptomaniac, which refers to a person with the recognized psychological disorder kleptomania.

An insecure misfit who gets pleasure stealing from an aquintance, they will steal insignificant items like a knife and fork that has very little value to them. A kind of nutcase.

Verbal Kleptomaniac

A term coined by Samawnline which refers to a person who impulsively or frequently copies, or 'steals', words or phrases they saw someone else use.

If when you find rarely used adjectives which apply to yourself, you immediately and impulsively take them and use them to your own benefit or to describe yourself, you could be described as a verbal kleptomaniac.

Tyranny of the Lobbyists/ Kleptocrats

A condition in which the democratic will and collective welfare of the populace are subordinated to the entrenched influence of powerful conglomerates, multinational corporations, and strategically positioned non-governmental organisations. These entities, often acting as proxies for the geopolitical and economic priorities of their respective states, exercise disproportionate sway over the political process. In doing so, they erode civic freedoms, curtail liberties, and diminish the agency of ordinary citizens within the public sphere, replacing representative governance with a system governed by private interest, elite patronage, and institutional capture.

Person 1: “So what if 13 Cabinet ministers and 180 MPs have taken money from the pro-Israeli lobby? That is just politics as usual, isn’t it?”

Person 2: “No, that is the Tyranny of the Lobbyists/ Kleptocrats, when those in power serve the interests of wealthy lobbies instead of the people who elected them.”
