Escapegoat

Of the children whose parent(s) are diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder NPD, there is one child who is assigned the role of Scapegoat. The NPD person directs their abusive behavior, blame, rage, criticism, assault and battery toward this child. After the child grows into an adult and provide their own financial support, they go off and form a circle of friends and relatives who love and accept them. At this point, that have changed from Scapegoat to Escapegoat. They only see the NPD person in settings that the NPD will not attempt to reestablish the trauma bond with the Escapegoat.
To maintain peace of mind and emotional stability, the Escapegoat avoids the parent with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
