Clandestine Industries

the scene is already too saturated with clothing companies with bad designs and horrible bands. clandestine is an attack on these stale ideas of nautical stars and pogo parts. clandestine is not a clothing company. it is not a band. it is a story based on a nightmare. the book will be released on Halloween 2004. it is called "clandestine industries presents: the boy with the thorn in his side".


The Book:
This is a story based on the real nightmares of Peter Wentz, lyricist and bass player from the band Fall Out Boy. The memories of these nightmares have stayed with him since he was young. Putting them on paper was a form of closure, as well as a way to relive them (again and again). With the visual inspiration of world famous tattoo artist Tim Biedron, these images came to life. Illustrated by Joe Tesauro with intense colors by Rob Dobi, the pictures tell the story that kept the young Peter Wentz awake at night. It is dark and it is twisted. It is for every heart that is too heavy for the legs that carry it.

facebook induced mood disorder

A new psychiatric disorder, soon to be released in the DSM V, in which an adolescent becomes suicidal, fakes feeling suicidal, or reports homicidal ideation that is directly related to a series of facebook wall posts from said adolescents love interest, rivals, friends, or enemies. This syndrome often leads to a psychiatric admission, and treatment with Adderall, Lexapro, or both. Sadly.

Resident Doctor Smith: "Well, Connor, what brings you to the psychiatric emergency room today?"

Connor: "I cut my wrists after my ex-girlfriend posted on my wall that she thinks I'm gay, and she's sleeping with my cousin! I hate her! I have no reason to live!"

Resident Doctor Smith: "Connor, you are suffering from facebook induced mood disorder. I am going to admit you to the Adolescent Psychiatry Inpatient Unit. You will need to be stabilized on Adderall and Lexapro, stat. And eat with a spork."

Industrial Rock

A type of rock started in the mid to late 70's by Throbbing Gristle. It was different from other rock because it incorporated the sounds of machinery into the music. It also had very heavy lyrics. It has traces of techno and electronica.

industrial

A style of music started in the mid-1970's by the seminal "band" Throbbing Gristle. Known for the painful noise and disturbed subject matter that seemed to spring eternal from their seriously crazed leader, Genesis P-Orridge (he was once threatened by the axe-murder Ian Brady... Prompting him to write a song about Ian), TG quickly claimed a name for itself. They were often described as "the wreckers of civilization." Industrial music was further explored by synth-whatever acts Suicide and Cabaret Voltaire, from New York and Sheffield respectively. Both shared a sort of skewed love for pop music, and both had a penchant for writing seriously weird songs, in the tradition of TG. Cab Voltaire especially was an enormous influence on the scene to follow. The Cabs were soon followed by the fledgling Einsturzende Neubauten, possibly the most notorious of the well-known industrial groups. With more members, no drum set, and a hatred for the guitar, Blixa Bargeld and his band of jaded Germans unleashed a wave of broken machinery and really cool-sounding German lyrics, and throwing in danceable beats, thus giving birth to (you can't blame 'em) the Holocaust that is modern-day industrial. With very little respect for the experimentation of their forefathers but a strong desire to somehow work machinery into their music, a whole host of over (I will NOT say über)-angsty Goths turned to the new genre of Industrial for sanctuary. Bands like Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, and many other groups who wore their hair like Goths but were really, REALLY angry, started coming out of the woodwork. J.G. Thirlwell was a notable exception, bringing some seriously needed humour to the genre with his whole host of aliases (most of them containing "foetus"). Things only went downhill from there, and before you know it, BAM! the Nine Inch Nails.

Just because it has the sound of a jackhammer in it doesn't make it industrial music.
