Hippy

Generally someone who can see the system for all of its flaws, but typically comes from a family that benefits from it. From the 1960s-1970s, around 60-75% of the hippy movement were made up of middle or high class persons who generally dropped out of college to chase “rebellion.”

It was more so a glorified excuse they were chasing rather than real change. That excuse being to not participate in the system while also not participating in the fight against it.

“She’s such an airhead, man, can’t think of anything else but ganja and sex.”

When a hipster is called a hipster and they claim against it stating that they do not conform to the labels of the people claiming to be either above or completely separate from society.

Normal Person: Stupid hipster. Thinking you're so cool.

Hipster (telling The Hipster Lie): Whatever, I'm not a hipster, you just don't understand me, tool.

twitter hippy

Refers to an individual(s) who displays themselves as a "hippy" via social networking sites, but upon being seen and conversed with in person, have no outstanding qualities that would allow them to be seen as aforementioned "hippy". Twitter biographies often include descriptors declaring that one is indeed "a hippy", "flower child", "peace lover", "acid lover", etc. May even go as far as to tweet and retweet things that encourage this false image, even though they may not fully understand the subject matter of said tweets.

John: "Sarah is a very judgmental, mean girl."
David: "But her twitter makes her seem so peaceful and cool, she's got a picture of the Buddha on her header!"
John: "Nah, she's just a twitter hippy."
