Christmasochistic

A person who continues to decorate and make the effort of throwing a christmas party, year after year, even though they keep saying they're not going to because no one cares as much as they do about the holidays.

Someone who gives a present, knowing full well that the person who they're giving it to will not return the favor unless you ask them to.

The act of hoping that this year will be different than the last in that they will receive real gifts instead of money, gift cards, soap, and 'couples' presents.

I must really be christmasochistic, or else I wouldn't go through the pain of making christmas special to people who could care less about the holidays.
