Refers to da act of either noticing a hazard or obstruction in your driving-path in sufficient time to evasively yank da steering-wheel, or noticing skid-marks on da pavement/gravel which indicate dat someone else who'd come along da roadway sometime before you had himself been obliged to hastily alter course to avoid hitting something in front of him.

Sometimes icy and/or uneven pavement can be easier to spot and skirt around if you maintain close obswerveation of da road ahead, and look out for abnormally-twisty tire-tracks dat show where previous motorists have recently deviated to circumvent such hazards.

Oswego Effect

The strange feeling SUNY Oswego students get after they leave college, when you miss the lake, the sunsets, and even the freezing wind you used to complain about.

It’s that mix of missing your friends, the campus, and the small-town life that somehow felt like home. The Oswego Effect hits when you realize you didn’t just go to school there, a part of you still lives there.

Ever since graduation, I’ve been missing Oswego like crazy. I think the Oswego Effect just kicked in.
