there is no defintion for this because, every person is different, 1 "goth" might be depressed, another "goth" might be happy, happy goth they are all different. Goths arent bad people. so all u people who think they are stupid-ass morbid highschool dropouts they arent.

In real terms a goth is just an ancient Roman person who lived long long ago. but it has developed so much since then...like...um...well let's see...many people see goths as homo's or queers who want attention but many goth WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE!!!!! 1) A person who dresses different. Most goths dress in black. Goths do not worship Satan and are not suicidal. You can be a suicidal goth, but you can also be a suicidal prep. Alot of goths are fun, perky, smart, creative, sarcastic (mostly) and some wear bright clothing. A gothic person can be whatever they want to be. Even if you dont wear "goth clothing" you could be a goth. A goth is a person who calls themself a goth.

2) A type of music.

3) An old type of architecture.

4) A barbarian tribe.

First, I read someone thought Satanism was a religion, I'd like to correct that. It's a philosophy. Luciferism is a religion.

Okay. What's a goth ?

If you like Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, German expressionism's movies (and other horror movies) and Tim Burton among other things, you probably are a goth.
If you're constantly thinking about death, and have a romantic mind at the same time, then you might be a goth.
If you listen to Marilyn Manson and think that makes you a goth, you definitely aren't one !
If you can't express your feelings easily, I think you're close to goths.
If you think wearing black makes you a goth, you're not completely wrong, but not completely right either.

That's how I see it from here. So it's more of a way of thinking than a way of dressing or a way of acting. Either you have the spirit or you don't.
On the other hand, I might be wrong as well. :=)

Watch Sleepy Hollow or The Nightmare before Christmas, that will give you a good example of how a goth thinks.

goths like to pretend they were unfairly outcasted by society, when in reality they are socially inept and intolerant of most mainstream culture. they think that people who enjoy things such as mtv are brainwashed idiots instead of realizing that goths themselves are the ones who are trying too hard to fit the mold of a stereotype. goths also like to pretend that they, at heart, are more approachable and make better friends than your average prep because they're "intelligent", when in reality they use their pseudo-intellectual bullshit as an excuse to put themselves on a pedestal and act like they're so much greater than the rest of the world.

goth - "you laugh at me because i'm different, but i laugh at you because you're all the same"

normal person - "right, because you and all your friends don't dress exactly alike and listen to the same shitty music."
